Food Allergies & Special Diets

We are committed to nourishing all guests by providing nutritious options that fit each need. We support students with food allergies and special diets for medical, religious or personal reasons by providing the knowledge and resources necessary for students to make informed food choices in our dining locations.

Where to Start

  • Register

Register with the Office of Accessibility Services and notify the dining team of any allergies or special dietary needs.

  • Schedule a Consultation

Schedule a meeting with our registered dietician. We’ll work with you to develop a plan to help navigate the dining locations and find the best solution regarding your meal plan.

  • Ongoing Support

Keep in touch. If we do not hear from you, we believe that you are successfully navigating the dining locations.

Allergy-Friendly Options

  • True Balance

The True Balance Station located in Suwannee Room offers a complete meal made without gluten and the top 9 food allergens (milk, eggs, wheat, soy, shellfish, fish, tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame). A dedicated and trained staff member will serve you from this station with a clean plate each time.

This station is AllerCheck™ certified, indicating that it follows the proper processes and procedures to minimize the risk of cross-contact and serves menu items prepared with verified ingredients. The True Balance station is audited by an independent agency at least once per year.

  • Worry-Free Zone

The Worry-Free Zone is an isolated, locked pantry stocked with peanut, tree nut, and gluten-free products located in Suwannee Room. Students with meal plans who are medically required to limit or avoid peanuts, tree nuts, and/or gluten should apply with the Office of Accessibility Services to request access to the pantry.

  • Stress-Less Zone

Stress-Less Zone is located in Seminole Café and offers pre-packaged food items that limit or avoid peanuts, tree nuts, and/or gluten. Open to all. Please be advised that there is risk of cross contact.

  • AllerCheck™

Our commitment is to allergen-safe service. Our dedicated allergy station is AllerCheck approved and earned a Certificate of Achievement from the nation’s leading food allergy experts, MenuTrinfo®, LLC. AllerCheck™ helps you dine with confidence so you can find foods that fit your needs.

Dining Tips

  • Know What’s in Your Food

Always read the menu, ingredient, and nutrition information for foods you wish to eat to ensure you are properly avoiding the appropriate foods.

  • When in Doubt—Ask

When in doubt regarding ingredients in a particular food, direct your questions to our manager on duty.

  • Let Us Prepare It for You

Items at self-service stations may be prepared individually for you in our kitchens, just ask a chef or manager for assistance.

  • Cross-Contact Risk

With the exception of True Balance, dining locations operate in shared kitchen spaces where cross contact may occur.

  • Be Prepared for Allergic Reactions

Due to the self-serve nature of the residential dining halls, if you have been prescribed an epinephrine autoinjector, carry it with you at all times.

  • Keep Emergency Info Handy

Always carry your emergency contact information with you, including the names and phone numbers of trusted individuals.

Menu Icons

Menu icons found on online and in-person menus can be a helpful tool for navigating dietary restrictions.

  • Coolfood Meal – Low Carbon Certified

Certified climate-friendly by the World Resources Institute. They have a low impact on the climate, making them a delicious way to help the planet.

  • Made Without Gluten

Selections made with ingredients that do not contain gluten. IMPORTANT: Foods prepared without gluten containing ingredients may not be ‘gluten-free’ since recipes are prepared in open kitchens where cross-contact is possible. Aramark relies on its manufacturers’ ingredient listings in determining whether an ingredient contains gluten.

  • Eat Well

Lower in calories, saturated fat, and sodium AND at least one full serving of nutritionally dense ingredients like vegetables, lean protein, whole grains or fresh greens.

  • Plant Forward

A style of cooking and eating emphasizing healthy plants at the center of the plate. May contain a proportionally small quantity of animal protein.

  • Vegan

Contains no animal products of any kind.

  • Vegetarian
